Nikolaj Blichfeldt

PhD student, University of Copenhagen

Areas of Scholarship

Nikolaj Blichfeldt is PhD student at Institute of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, University of Copenhagen. His research topic is "Climate change with Chinese characteristics“. The aim of his fieldwork in China is to observe firsthand the ways in which citizens engage with climate change related projects in Hangzhou, and to interview relevant stakeholders. By conducting interviews with participants in climate projects, he seeks to examine the interpretations of the low-carbon concept as well as the interpretations of public participation that underlie citizen and civil society engagements with climate change initiatives. Through participant observation he aims to gain an understanding of the meaning of low-carbon initiatives to the people who participate in them.
